Make Your Screen Room a Cozier Place to Spend Your Time
Add a Rug
It’s easier than ever to find an indoor/outdoor rug that’s full of character and what better place to put such an item than in your screened in porch? The addition of color and texture can make a big difference in how the space feels and this is a great opportunity to add a bit of unique character to your space. Whether your tastes lean towards minimal and classic or bright and eclectic adding a rug that suits that style is never a bad idea.
Consider the Lighting
Admittedly your screen room isn’t going to give you as many options for lighting as a living room, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have any options. Consider how a new outdoor light fixture might help you to get more enjoyment out of the space. After all, nothing in the world beats reading in the screen room and you’re going to need a light source. It’s even better if it’s visually appealing as well.
You could also hang some rope lights (also known as string lights, fairy lights, cafe lights, and Christmas lights) in your screen room to add a bit of ambiance. Another option is to put candles in your space, but normal candle rules apply so don’t forget to blow them out while you’re not using them!
Add Comfortable Seating
Whether you prefer to use your patio enclosure as a gathering space when you have people over or you want it to be your own personal oasis it’s important to be comfortable. So how can you achieve that, you ask? By adding some cozy seating, of course! Whether you get it at the local home center or opt to build it yourself with some 2x4s and a circular saw the end result will be something that’s comfortable and that fits in with your style.
Listen to Some Tunes
Every good living space requires that you have a way to listen to music. Sure, in this day and age you can pull up anything you want on your smartphone and listen that way, but tinny speakers leave something to be desired. Our suggestion is to invest in a good set of outdoor speakers that can connect to your device through bluetooth. That way you’ll be covered in case any moisture makes its way into your space, but you’ll also be able to enjoy the many benefits that come with listen to some good music.
Add a Coffee Table
Now obviously the temperature outside will have an influence on whether you’re drinking warm beverages or cold ones but there’s something to be said about relaxing in a screen room with a delicious drink in hand. Until you want to read, that is. In that case, you’re going to want to set your drink down somewhere. A coffee table is the perfect option and much like the seating you could either buy something that works for your space or go the DIY route and build your own coffee table. Either way, you’re sure to get plenty of use out of it.
